Monday March 16,2015 : CALIFORNIAN POKER PRO DOUBLES HIS CAREER EARNINGS IN BAY 101 SHOOTING STAR
Taylor Paur takes home $1,21 million after besting a field of 707.
Californian poker pro Taylor Paur almost doubled his career earnings of $1,56 million in a single tournament Friday when he took down the $7,500 buy-in 2015 World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star main event.
The 26-year-old's prize money of $1.2 million dwarfed his previous individual tournament earnings after he survived a field of 707 other players, a strong final table and a tough heads up against Isaac Baron to claim his first WPT title.
Added to his $95,000 fifth placing win at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Latin American Poker Tour earlier this year, it looks as if 2015 is going to be profitable for the young professional, with winnings this year already at $1,309,120.
The final table in this event was a tough one, with Paur facing players like Isaac Baron (chip leader), Sorel Mizzi, Jacob Bazeley, Faraz Jaka and Ravee Mathi.
After 170 hands just Baron and Paur were left standing, with Paur holding a 2 to 1 chip advantage which despite a determined effort Baron was unable to remedy; the game took another nine hands to resolve into a Paur victory, with Baron picking up the runner-up prize of $704,200.
Other final table pay-outs were:
Jake Bazeley $461,470
Sorel Mizzi $310,060
Faraz Jaka $216,320
Ravee Mathi $168,260
