ILLEGAL ONLINE GAMBLING OPERATION RAIDED IN TAIWAN
Lights, Camera…. Action!
Taiwanese media report that a three-month old illegal online gambling operation was shutdown last week.
The operation involved an elaborate set-up where the unnamed "casino" was a set in a rented TV studio in Taipei, Taiwan complete with casino tables, roulette wheels, poker chips and hired models masquerading as dealers.
The staged "action" was broadcast live onto a website 24 hours a day and TV screens airing programmes by China-based broadcasters were screened to create the illusion that the casino was being run from Mainland China, however the website itself was allegedly hosted on a server based in the Philippines.
The "casino" allegedly signed up 1000 customers over its three months in operation.
Sixteen dealers, workers and modelling agents were arrested by Taiwanese Police in the raid and further investigations are being conducted to identify the remaining members of the operation, reported asiaone.com
