Swedish pro bests an international field to claim the GBP 560,980 main prize.
The 2013 European Poker Tour London main event was decided over the weekend as 27-year-old Swedish pro Robin Ylitalo bested a competitive field of 603 other hopefuls to claim the main prize of GBP 560,980.
Ylitalo played strongly and well through the several days leading to the final table, and was among the high stacks at the end of most days.
The final table reflected the international make-up of the field and comprised Ylitalo (Sweden); Georgios Karakousis from Greece; Englishmen Leo McClean and Kully Sidhu; Ludovic Geilich from Scotland; Australian player Jeff Rossiter (chip leader); Slovakia's Stefan Vagner; and Jan Olav Sjavik from Norway.
Heads up, Ylitalo faced 63-year-old Greek plastics factory owner Georgios Karakousis, playing in his first EPT main event although he has extensive live tournament experience. With well over half the chips in play, the Swede started the action with a clear advantage, and he didn't put a foot wrong as he leveraged his lead into a convincing win in short order, dismissing his opponent with the runner up prize of GBP 349,200
