Wednesday August 29,2012 : NEW JERSEY SPORTS – DON'T EXPECT IMMEDIATE LICENSING (Update)
State Attorney General says licensing before December this year is unlikely
The state of New Jersey now has a law on the books supporting legalised intrastate sports betting in defiance of the PASPA but the practical issue of licensing will not take place for a few months yet, according to the state Attorney General, Jeffrey Chiesa.
Writing to a federal judge in the wake of legal actions filed against the state by major sporting leagues, Chiesa indicated that there is little likelihood of sports betting licenses being issued to state racetracks and casinos before December this year.
According to the publication North Jersey.com, Chiesa assured District Judge Michael Shipp that the earliest date on which the state envisages issuing licenses is December 1st 2012, and the delay could be as long as 120 days.
