Oscar Alache Wins LAPT Chile
Wednesday March 11,2015 : ANOTHER L.A.P.T. WIN FOR OSCAR
Chilean pro bags another first…and the $131,962 main prize.
Chilean poker pro Oscar Alache, whom our readers will recall triumphed in the Latin American Poker Tour Grand Final Peru last year, has done it again, taking down the LAPT in his home nation this week and claiming the main prize of $132,962.
409 other players – 55 of whom would subsequently cash – entered the main event in the eighth edition of the tournament, distilled down to a final table on the last day that included Renata Teixeira (Brazil); Javier Venegas and Nacho Barbero from Argentina, and Chileans Justo Esquivel, Fabian Chauriye (chip leader), Rodrigo Quezada and Rodrigo Oliver.
When the table reached the four-handed stage the survivors, Alache, Teixeira, Venegas and Barbero, agreed a four-way chop. Teixeira – the only woman left standing – was the chip leader at that stage, closely chased by Alache.
The Brazilian retained the lead going into the heads up against Alache, but it was a close-run contest as Alache built his stack to first overtake her and then eliminate her to claim the victory.
Teixeira took home $113,460 for a noteworthy performance against top competitors. The other members of the earlier four way deal took home $86,505 (Venegas in third place) and $100,073 (Barbero in fourth).
