Monday January 26,2015 : KIRON AND VERMANTIA TO LAUNCH AFRICAN SPORTS CHANNEL
Specialist supplier teams up with gaming distributor to offer satellite service.
Online and mobile gambling games developer Kiron Interactive has partnered with distribution and broadcast expert Vermantia to set up the first pan-African satellite channel dedicated to virtual games.
The service will showcase Kiron’s virtual games portfolio, including horses, dogs, football, motor-racing and cycling, with plans to introduce other virtual sports and number games – including Keno – later this year.
The 24/7 channel, featuring live commentary, will be initially launched in betting shops in Uganda during the first quarter of 2015, with three of the country’s betting operators The country will be joined by Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya within the first year of operation, a spokesman revealed Monday.
Steven Spartinos, co-CEO of Kiron Interactive, said the company has recently expanded into 12 territories in Africa, with the continent now a core focus, adding that the partnership with Vermantia would make Kiron's content more widely available across Africa.
“We’re looking forward to speaking to operators in the coming weeks about how our new satellite channel can provide a competitive advantage to their retail betting estates,” he said.
Vermantia’s chief commercial officer Thanos Panousis said that the advantage of the new channel was that it constituted a cost-effective, scalable solution with broad reach on a continent where virtual games have proved to work very well.
Operators taking bets on events broadcast on the channel will be able to process these via their existing sports betting systems or via Kiron’s recently up-graded bet management system, BetMan.
