Thursday September 13, 2012 : ICELAND ISPS TO BLOCK GAMBLING?
Protection not censorship says ISP
According to Iceland's national broadcaster RUV, Vodafone and Siminn which are Iceland's largest internet service providers are considering blocking x-rated material, gambling and other questionable internet content.
Apparently though potential restrictions would still allow customers access to the censored sites on their request.
Hrannar Pétursson, a spokesperson for Vodafone, told RUV "that the block, if enforced, would not be censorship, but rather a way to protect customers from viruses and malware that frequently run rampant on porn and gambling sites."
