Released in 1986 and directed by Russell Mulcahy, “Highlander” is based on a story by Gregory Widen. The movie is set between 1980s New York City and historical Scotland, and features an immortal Scottish swordsman, Connor MacLeod played by Christopher Lambert, who must confront the last of his immortal opponent to win the fabled “prize.”
“There can be only one” – Microgaming signs licensing agreement for Highlander. Microgaming has signed a licensing agreement to develop an online slot based on the original “Highlander” film. Since its release, the film has developed an enormous cult following, inspiring a franchise which stands strong to this day.
David Reynolds, Games Publisher at Microgaming, comments: “Highlander is seen as one of the great cult hits of the 80s. With its action-packed storyline and hefty rock inspired composition, it is a fantastic brand for an online slot. The game studio is busy completing the slot that captures all of the movie magic. The game’s features will incorporate the historical Scottish Highlands and gritty New York City, with a classic movie poster art style and blistering guitar tracks.”
The 243 ways slot game goes live on Wednesday 6th December. Microgaming has signed an agreement for Highlander through Studiocanal, brokered by Creative Licensing Corporation.
