Ekanksh Jain Arrested For Developing and Selling Gambling Software in India

Monday October 6,2014 : INDIAN BETTING SOFTWARE DEVELOPER BUST

Developed and sold online betting software to bookies

Pune Police, acting on a tip-off, arrested Ekanksh Rajendrakumar Jain (33) who had his online betting business abruptly curtailed when Authorities raided his apartment and confiscated cash, 27 cellphones, 12 sim cards, a laptop, hard disk and a currency counting machine.

Jain, who reportedly does not have a technical background, developed online betting software which he sold to at least 12 bookmakers for Rs 2.5 million (GBP 25 380) per client while still retaining control of the software from his apartment and taking a share of the profit from the bookies who used it.

Jain appears to be a habitual offender having been arrested by Mumbai police in June this year for accepting bets via several cellphones in his possession.

"The sim cards that we have recovered have the same number that the Mumbai police had seized. The investigations have revealed that Jain had managed to procure those same numbers again by furnishing bogus documents in the names of dead people," senior inspector Sushama Chavan said.
