CZECH REPUBLIC MOVES ON GAMBLING TAX
Online gambling market to be liberalised….but taxes are high.
Wednesday saw politicians in the Czech lower house finally agreeing on a bill dealing primarily with gambling tax but also opening the online market to foreign companies subject to their meeting regulatory requirements.
The bill now moves to the Senate for further consideration, with the tax burden for slot operators increased from 28 percent of GGR to 35 percent, and for lotteries and sports betting unchanged at 23 percent.
The Reuters news agency reports that the Finance Ministry will be empowered to take action against unlicensed operators.
The increases are scheduled to be implemented in 2017.
