Friday August 23,2013 : JOB LOSSES AT SEATTLE GAMES DEVELOPER
Big Fish Games undergoing some major changes
Media in Seattle is reporting major changes in train at one of the most promising US game developers, Big Fish Gaming, with up to 140 staff lay-offs in both the United States and Europe.
Up to 50 jobs will be lost at the Seattle headquarters of the firm, with other staff cuts and transfers in Vancouver and in Ireland, where the company is closing a development studio and its European offices.
The cuts are part of a major restructuring by CEO and founder Paul Thelen, who is reassigning other company employees as part of an exercise to shut down unprofitable activities.
Thelen says the changes are being made whilst the company is still strong in order to prepare for the future direction of the industry.
