Saturday July 2, 2011 : Major rise in mobile customers reported
The UK online gambling group Betfair is yet another betting company that has discovered how effectively mobile offerings can improve business, reporting that it has experienced an increase of 122 percent in mobile gamblers since last year.
On-the-move punters used their mobile devices to bet on major sporting events that included the football and cricket world cup championships, the company reported in its financial results, with sales up 88 percent.
"Over GBP1 billion worth of bets were placed on via our mobile products in fiscal year 2011. Those figures are really encouraging and are spurring us on to keep on innovating in this space,” reported the newly appointed vice president of mobile for Betfair, Raj Vemulapalli, adding that the development of new mobile products was one of Betfair's key priorities.
