But advert published without 888's knowledge or approvals
A 888.com banner advert on social networking site Facebook was banned by the UK Advertising Authority (ASA) this week after receiving a single complaint.
The complainant challenged whether the advertisement, created by Online Media Solutions, was irresponsible as it played on addiction to encourage people to gamble.
The advertisement said ""Addicted to slots? 888promos.com" and featured a picture of a fruit machine. Further text stated "Register in 888casino & get 7 spins every week for a whole year ABSOLUTELY FREE! Get the chance to win every day. No deposit necessary."
Cassava Enterprises, trading as 888.com, said it had no knowledge of the advert before receiving notification from the ASA and that the agency has subsequently been instructed to submit all future advertising material for approval.
The ASA upheld the complaint and ordered that it may not appear again in its current form.
