Tuesday April 14,2015 : DEPOSIT ISSUES RAISED AT ONLINE POKER CARDROOM
Online poker pro queries suggestion that he should mislead his bank.
The unidentified e-cash processor handling online poker operator Americas Cardroom business is probably a target following an incident this week in which a customer service rep allegedly told a customer to mislead his bank by declaring that a deposit was not for gambling, but for "sporting goods from China."
US-facing ACR was quick to deny culpability, pointing the finger at the unnamed processor, when a more considered response might have been an apology and a commitment to investigate and deal with the problem.
The row started with a tweet from well-known online poker pro Mike "Timex" McDonald in which he reported:
"Deposit to @ACR_POKER failed so I called support "tell your bank its for sporting goods from China. Not gambling. Sporting goods from China"
With the issue escalating on poker forums, ACR responded to the accusation, tweeting:
"We have to work with third party companies who say what we have to do on these matters. Apologies for any hustle [hassle] you may [have] had."
