Online gambling company Bet365 founder and Stoke City Chairman Peter Coates (73) will be awarded his second honorary degree in July this year.
Coates’ first honorary degree was awarded by Staffordshire University three years ago. He will be honoured with the same by Keele University for his "enormous contribution" to North Staffordshire.
Leaving school unqualified at the age of fifteen, Coates has gone on to become one of the wealthiest men in Britain with a thriving online gambling company and a successful football club.
He will be honoured along with five other prominent members of the local community.
