NHL Odds: Bruins Battle for Playoff Spot in Washington
NHL Odds: Bruins-Caps in Potential Playoff Preview
They’re not out of the woods yet, but after winning five games in a row, the Boston Bruins are on the cusp of making the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. Their drive could be stalled Wednesday night (8:00 PM ET, NBCSN) by the Washington Capitals at the Phone Booth.
The Bruins (41-25-4-9, minus-13.82 units ATS) are tied for third place in the Atlantic as we go to press; they have 95 points, as do the Detroit Red Wings. Boston holds the tiebreaker between the two teams. The Pittsburgh Penguins, who are in fourth place in the Metropolitan, also have 95 points, and the Ottawa Senators are another two points back, so anything can happen with three games left to go in the regular season for all these teams.
Washington (44-25-7-4, plus-8.22 units ATS) has already clinched a playoff spot with 99 points after winning eight of its last 11 games – starting with a 2-0 shutout of the Bruins (+120 away). The Capitals have improved steadily in their first season under head coach Barry Trotz, and Alex Ovechkin (52 goals, 28 assists, 12.5 Point Shares) has scored 25 goals in 33 games since the All-Star break.
