Alberta Launching Online Gambling

Monday February 02,2015 :  ALBERTA CALLS FOR TENDERS (Update)

Canadian province follows through on media speculation

The Canadian province of Alberta’s Gaming and Liquor Corporation (AGLC) called for bidder submissions late last week for a turnkey online gaming solution deadlined by end February 2015.

“We’re going out into the market place to see what types of programs exist and would be best for us,” said chief executive officer of the AGLC, Bill Robinson.

“Right now, we estimate that there is anywhere between $120 and $150 million being played by Albertans on what we call grey market sites”.

Alberta would be the eighth of ten major Canadian provinces to launch online gambling following Ontario’s launch of PlayOLG.ca last month leaving just Saskatchewan offline.
