Microgaming has launched BabelFish technology for poker software

Innovative software allows developers access to liquidity of MPN

Isle of Man-based egaming supplier Microgaming has launched its new innovative BabelFish technology for poker software.

The new Babelfish API gives software developers the ability to create poker client software in any language, join the MPN and access all the networks’ cash games and tournaments, both real money and play money.

By utilising Babelfish, operators save on expensive hosting costs, random number generators, and the other complexities involved when developing server software.

“Babelfish is definitely a game changer for poker,” said Alex Scott, Head of Poker at Microgaming. “It allows operators to customise their poker software to a higher degree than has ever been possible before, without having to go standalone.

And the features are impressive.  Babelfish allows operators to build software for any device – from specific mobile devices, to games consoles, to smart TVs. 

“If you were so inclined, you could even build poker software for a smartwatch, a connected fridge or an in-car entertainment system. The only limit is your imagination,” Scott added.

Operators can also tailor their bespoke client to the specific market they are targeting; any language can be supported.

Microgaming revealed that a well-known major operator in the poker marketplace will be the first to use Babelfish, an announcement on the launch is imminent.

The new operator will be migrating all of their players to the MPN, offering a mix of private and shared-liquidity games, providing mutual benefits for both the operator and the network.

“With this new operator on board, our network will grow significantly,” Scott said. “But this is not the only exciting news that the MPN has for 2015.  This year we want to be at the pinnacle of the poker industry – this is just the first step!”
