Tuesday September 03,2013 : STRANGE ATTRACTIONS AT THE BATTLE OF MALTA POKER TOURNAMENT
Zany stunt group and a porn star due to play
An unusual cast of celeb players for its second annual Battle of Malta poker tournament on Sept. 26 -29, 2013 at the Portomaso Casino in St. Julian's, Malta.
Among those pitching up for the event will be porn star Puma Swede and the zany Jackass-style stunt group The Dudesons.
In a press release detailing the latest edition of the annual Euro 200,000 guaranteed tournament, Pokerlistings describes The Dudesons as:
"Jukka Hilden, Jarno ‘Jarppi' Leppälä, Hannu-Pekka ‘HP' Parviainen and Jarno Laasale – collectively known as The Dudesons – are four dudes from the arctic circle best known for performing extreme stunts and comedic pranks on their numerous reality shows, including The Dudesons in America on MTV.
"The group often battled Johnny Knoxville's Jackass crew and also appeared on Bam Margera's Viva La Bam and the hit movie Jackass 3D. The hard-partying Finns are no strangers to the game of poker and will certainly be the wildcards of the event."
Adult video star Swede, who is Finnish despite her stage name, recently released her first book titled My Life as a Pornstar to good reviews, and has tweeted that she is looking forward to playing in the event and taking home some prize money.
The Battle of Malta is a NLHE poker tournament with a re-entry format hosted by the Portomaso Casino, Malta, and focused on providing an exceptional poker experience for the casual player.
The organisers tout the competition as "…a poker holiday that aims to bring the poker community together in the friendliest environment of the industry. The Battle of Malta staff is composed by Tournament Directors Association certified members, poker professionals and staff from all around the world that believe in the integrity of the skill game."
The Euro 150,000 guaranteed inaugural edition of the tournament last year saw 349 entries, and culminated in a heads-up final between Italian players Giulio Astarita and Niccodemo Piccolo, with the latter winning the tournament to claim the main prize of Euro 35,000.
The higher guarantee, bigger publicity and brand recognition, and the presence of the celebs are expected to increase the size of the entry field this year and with it the prize pool.
