5 SEPTEMBER 2011 (LONDON, UK) – The Main Stage at Poker in the Park V was the venue for this year’s British Poker Awards, as “the pokerati” gathered to remember a fantastic year in UK poker. Hosted by comedian Lucy Porter and Bluff Europe’s Michael Caselli, nominees had been decided by a committee that included editors of Bluff Europe Magazine and PokerNews.com and “The Voice of Poker” himself, Jesse May, with winners decided by public vote.
And the public voted for youth as players in their twenties swept the board, with Jake Cody picking up “Best Tournament Player” and “Player of the Year”, Sam Trickett taking “Best Cash Player”, Matt Perrins “Best Breakthrough Player”, Jason Mercier “Best International Player” JP Kelly “Best PLO” Player and Chris Moorman “Best Online Player”. Representing the (slightly) older generation were the likes of Neil Channing (“Best Blog”), John Duthie (“Best Contribution to Poker”) and Vicky Coren (“Best Social Media User”).
The awards also featured a charity auction to raise money for Peace and Sport , with Barcelona and Arsenal shirts, signed by the teams, going under the hammer. The Barcelona shirt alone raised over £2,000 following a bidding war between Roland De Wolfe and Sam Trickett. Organisers would like to thank everyone who came down to support the event.
